John Shaw Consulting, LLC

John Shaw Consulting, LLC is a Nevada Corporation that offers consulting, engineering (design, forensics, and planning), management and operations services specific to the water and wastewater industry.

1986 to October 2000 –
Shaw Engineering, Ltd.

John Shaw started working for Shaw Engineering, Ltd. (SEL) while attending the University of Nevada – Reno (UNR). John's father, George Shaw, spent his professional career in the water and wastewater industry and started the business in 1981, serving primarily as a special consultant to other engineering firms as well as municipalities. When John Shaw joined with SEL as one of two employees, his job description included drafting, report writing, field data collection, hydraulic analysis, billing, construction inspection and preliminary and final design.

After receiving his license in 1992, John Shaw purchased 50% of the business and started moving the company toward a more design focused business. Moving the company into a controlled growth mode, John Shaw took on the responsibilities of managing that growth and the associated tasks including: business development; project management; project design; drafting manager; human resource manager; and finance manager.

By 1995 SEL went from two employees to around six and then to ten employees by 1998. John Shaw was voted in as President of SEL in 1998, when his responsibilities were changed to focus on business development, client relations, marketing, project management (only on major projects), preliminary design (on minor projects) and report preparation.

In September of 2000, John Shaw resigned his position as President of SEL and sold his shares of SEL to the remaining shareholders.
